Bans Off Miami, Miami’s grassroots movement for bodily autonomy.

Q: How did you first get involved with the work you are doing?

A: Bans Off Miami was founded in response to the leaked Scotus decision on the Dobbs case, which overturned Roe versus Wade and federal protection for abortion healthcare in the US.

Q: What is your organization’s mission and what work are you doing to fulfill it?

A: We fight for bodily autonomy, whether that is for abortion, gender affirming care, sexual health education, or whatever. We have fought to raise awareness by disrupting public spaces with protests and banner drops. We have organized activists to oppose public policy and fought to restore sex education in Miami schools. We helped lead a state wide coalition in Tallahassee when the six week ban was passing, gaining international attention when myself and others including FDP Chair Nikki Fried and Senate Minority Leader Lauren Book were arrested for our protest. We helped gather petitions for Amendment 4 and got out the vote. And since the election we’ve been going hard for the ERA, which I’m proud to share was published by Biden just before leaving office.

Q: What will be your priority for 2025?

A: Our priority for 2025 will be increasing community awareness and access to medication abortion and other forms of reproductive healthcare such as Plan B pills and the continued fight against fascism and war on bodily autonomy.
